Integrating batik with contemporary designs to shape new character
The Essential Is Greater Than The Existential
When we engaged with Indigo Hotel Dago Pakar, the project was still in it’s infancy. Upon our arrival, there was nothing but a flat plot of land in the beautiful Dago Pakar area. With essential guidance, they provided 11 slides outlining all divisions in the hotel requiring uniform designs. The first slide immediately caught our attention with a stunning batik design by Batik Komar. Inspired by this artistry, we embraced the challenge of incorporating the concept of craftsmanship into the garment design for Indigo Hotel Dago Pakar’s uniforms

Diversity in Harmony
The stunning Komar Yadi batik, a harmonious blend of contemporary design and local wisdom, pushed our creativity to the limit as we integrated it into the uniform designs. The intricate batik required precise adjustments to its proportions to ensure it not only looked balanced but also complemented the body’s anatomy. After a thorough process of trial and refinement spanning 14 days, we finally reached a placement that celebrates the artistry of batik while maintaining functional elegance in the uniform. This journey highlights our commitment to merging cultural heritage with modern design solutions.
Efficiency With Visual Symphony
We explored the Indigo brand and IHG’s vision, which inspired us to select three colors for the uniforms across all divisions: dark blue with a hint of purple, ochre, and brown. These colors not only complement the batik but are also resistant to fading. If any fading does occur, the colors transform into beautiful pastel shades.
The curated fabric is a blend of cotton, silk, polyester, and nylon, resulting in a soft touch, good moisture absorption, and easy maintenance. Each uniform comes with clear washing instructions.
In addition, we selected marble-textured buttons and threads that match the uniform’s base colors. These details are easy to find in the market, ensuring that even if turnover occurs, the uniforms can be updated and still align with the guidelines.
